When You Help, Hope Will Follow

Many of our neighbors feel the reality of economic instability and the rising cost of living. For every percentage point increase, is a story of help and hope.

Over the past year, The Open Door has seen double-digit percentage increase in the number of requests for food assistance. Today, we are serving MORE people than during the height of COVID.

“I promised my daughter I’d give her a better life,” says Clara. After a few hard months of homelessness, Clara is now living in a safe place with access to good food. “Without The Open Door, it would be hard,” she says. “I can get groceries. I won’t be hungry.”

For senior Nick, “healthy, good quality food is the first thing anyone that can’t make ends meet sacrifices,” he says. Today, with help from The Open Door, Nick no longer feels hungry, is eating healthier and managing his diabetes.

Your help means that people like Clara and Nick can get food for themselves and their families. From our foodpantries, Mobile Markets, Community Meals, SNAP (Food Stamp) assistance, Senior Soup & Salad, Summer Meals for Kids, Medically Tailored Groceries and MORE.
